Studio Joris de Groot X Knit in Motion
We, Knit in Motion and Studio Joris de Groot, are presenting our research project ‘Welded Loop’ during Dutch Design Week.
Welded Loop is a collaboration project of Knit in Motion (Suzanne Oude Hengel) and Studio Joris de Groot. Welded Loop is a project that explores the innovative use of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) by integrating knitting, welding, and 3D printing techniques. This project aims to harness the unique properties of TPU to create functional and sustainable footwear and other accessories.
The primary goals include exploring how these three techniques can be effectively merged using TPU, developing a fully TPU-based product that retains all the functionality of traditional accessories, and evaluating the material’s recyclability in manufacturing process.
