The Bag buoy

Largely inspired by coastal sea buoys, Bag-buoy translates a universal object into a functional 3D-printed accessory. The yellow lozenge buoys floating off the mediterranean seashore of Cadaqués in Catalonia were the initial inspiration. After measuring their proportions, a digital shell was 3D-modeled. The mechanical engineering of the project introduces a screw thread directly into the 3D-shaped structure, eliminating the need for zippers, buttons, or complex hardware. The bag opens and closes with a simple twist. 3D-printed using a selection of bio-based filaments, the rigid shell seamlessly merges functional design with sustainable manufacturing, offering a diverse colour palette.

Born in a shape that fits the body, Bag-buoy is easy to wear. Designed for adaptability, integrated loops accommodate straps and carabiners, allowing it to be worn across the body, around the waist, on the back, or over the shoulder. Bag-buoy transforms an iconic maritime marker into a versatile piece of wearable design, a durable container meant to move with you. Bag-buoy is a floating companion built to navigate daily life and to follow human travels, a functional anchor alongside you, wherever your journey takes you.

A limited edition of Bag-buoy is available for purchase on-site during Dutch Design Week.
